Reprocessing of polymer blends from WEEE: A methodology for predicting embrittlement

نویسندگان

چکیده

For recycling purposes, the thermal degradation of post-consumed (pc) ABS/HIPS and PP/PE blends derived from waste electrical electronic equipment (WEEE) was obtained by multiple extrusions. The evolution molar mass (Mw), melt flow index (MFI), ultimate elongation (?r) reprocessed evaluated as a function extrusion cycles. mechanism corresponds to random chain scission indicated diminution ?r correlated an increase in MFI decrease Mw after 30 cycles extrusion. same type occurs on blend shown drop thus factor six but only 11 cycles, suggesting higher thermomechanical resistance ABS/HIPS. beginning critical for embrittlement (M'c) zone reached around 130 200 kg/mol PP/PE, respectively, which can be related 12 63 g/10 min (230 °C/2.06 kg), respectively. As result, we propose innovative criterion using measurements that allow quick easy analysis polymer blends.

Conjugated-Polymer Blends for Optoelectronics

Solution-processed polymer optoelectronic devices such as light-emitting diodes and solar cells have many advantages for large-area manufacture, and show increasing levels of performance. Here, we review recent progress in using blends of two conjugated polymers for optoelectronic devices. The blending of two or more polymers allows tuning of device performance, and for photovoltaics presents a...

A model for predicting dynamic frothability index of dual-frother blends

Dynamic frothability index (DFI) is a characteristic of any frother which presents useful information about frothing properties. The objective of this study is to introduce a prediction model for estimation of DFI value of dual-frother blends. Model uses the DFIs of frothers and mole ratio of weaker frother to calculate the blend’s DFI. The model reliability was confirmed by comparing the exper...

Thermodynamics of Polymer Blends 2

This chapter summarizes the thermodynamics of multicomponent polymer systems, with special emphasis on polymer blends and mixtures. After a brief introduction of the relevant thermodynamic principles – laws of thermodynamics, definitions, and interrelations of thermodynamic variables and potentials – selected theories of liquid and polymer mixtures are provided: Specifically, both lattice theor...

Confined flow of polymer blends.

The influence of confinement on the steady-state morphology of two different emulsions is investigated. The blends, made from polybutene (PB) in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polybutadiene (PBD) in PDMS, are sheared between two parallel plates, mostly with a standard gap spacing of 40 microm, in the range of shear rates at which the transition from "bulk" behavior toward "confined" behavior i...
